WOTD: Jackanape
Modern insults are rather uncreative. Our vocabulary has become drab and boring when you want to make yourself feel better by making someone else feel worse. Today’s word of the day aims to solve that problem.

I remember hearing once that the term originates from monkeys that were trained to ride horseback during the crusades. I’ve also heard that both the singular and plural were “jackanapes”. I cannot attest to the truthiness of either.
