A famous Macbeth in the UK with Peter O'toole (how do you spell that) added the Elizabethan quantity of blood - and was laughed off stage around the UK, closing early - either it was too much emotion, or the 'suspension of disbelief' wasn't very suspended. One of the most horrifying Titus moments I've ever seen used ribbons for blood - my stomach churned. I do think it is a cultural thing though - where i live in Romania we slaughter the pigs in the street - plenty of blood around in daily life. The trouble is it makes the school-kids laugh.
